Adult Catechesis R.C.I A.
Parish Catechists meet every Wednesday evening at 7.30pm in the chapel house with adults seeking Baptism or Full Communion with the Church.
INTERESTED IN BECOMING A CATHOLIC “RCIA” stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults and it’s how we describe the way we accompany people who want to explore baptism in the Catholic Church (or coming to full Communion with the Church if they are already a baptised Christian). Sessions will be starting soon and are completely without any commitment other than the desire to find out more about the Catholic faith. If you are interested, please speak to one of the priests. If someone you know has been thinking about it, please encourage them to do the same.
Special Religious Development SPRED
SPRED is a program in which persons who are developmentally-disabled come together with a spiritual friend/catechist to share a one-to-one relationship and form with others a small faith community.
SPRED fosters and nourishes spiritual and personal growth by helping those with developmental disabilities discover God’s action and presence in their lives.
SPRED gives developmentally-disabled parishioners an opportunity for celebration and worship.
SPRED serves age groups from children to adults (6-10 years old, 11-16 years old, 17-21 years old, and 22 years and older) in Holy Cross parish we currently have four groups of 22+. Two groups meet on a Wednesday and the other two on a Thursday.
We come together with our friends for 14 sessions per year to share our faith through the Word of God. We have two family SPRED Masses’s per year.
Children’s Catechesis R.C.I.C
Parents, catholic schools and trained parish catechists work together with the children of the Parish in the preparation and celebration of the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation. They are given a book, by Sr Francoise at the start of their preparation, so they can write down any questions or things they want to know about. They will have a sponsor to be there for them.
